A bare-metal C intersection controller on AVR: a finite state machine with timers, interrupts, right-turn sensing and countdown displays.

An intersection controller written in bare-metal C on AVR, structured as a finite state machine. It drives 7-segment countdown displays and a 16×2 LCD through hardware timers and interrupts.

What I did

  • Implemented the controller as a finite state machine in Atmel Studio.
  • Extended the basic four-way design with right-turn sensing and dedicated turn signals.
  • Analysed timing performance and worst-case vehicle wait to confirm correct operation.
